Job description

Market gardener required for March 2021 start

We are recruiting for a market gardener/ delivery driver at Reddy Lane Market Garden starting in March. It is for 15 hours over Wednesday and Thursday, with mornings spent growing organic veg and afternoons spent delivering veg boxes from March-end of October (possibility of extension until mid December). You may also be expected to help with harvesting and packing the veg boxes. You need to be able to get to Reddy Lane (WA14 3RB) independently. There is no public transport, but cycling 4 miles from Altrincham train and tram station is possible.

• National minimum wage (£8.91 per hour for over 21) for 15 hours on Wednesday and Thursday

Criteria for applicants:

Essential:

• Over 25 years old (due to van insurance)
• Full clean driving license
• Able to drive and confidence driving van for deliveries
• Able to work Wednesday and Thursday
• Able to get to Reddy Lane (WA14 3RB) independently
• Able to do manual work like adding compost to beds and loading the van (full training given)
• Able to work outside in all weathers
• Interest in food, growing and using
• Enthusiasm and ability to learn
• Experience managing volunteers or apprentices

Desirable:

• Access to own vehicle
• Knowledge about growing and using food
• Experience working or volunteering in food growing or gardening setting
