Job description

Are you passionate about sustainable food and retail, and looking for an exciting opportunity where you can help shape and grow a young ethical business? Want to work in a grocery store that focuses on great local produce, low food miles and is a member of the Better Food Traders network?

Fridge of Plenty is an urban farm shop in Crouch End selling organic produce, artisan foods, cheese, beer and wine - all sourced as locally as possible and largely bought direct from producers.

We are looking for a friendly and professional Assistant Store Manager with 3+ years experience in food retail. You must be great front-of-house, as well as having strong operational skills and an eye for detail. Ideally, you’re a foodie with a commitment to sustainability, and you really love to chat about food!

Reporting to the Director/Store Manager, your main focus is providing great customer service, telling customers everything they need to know about our produce and driving sales. You’re also a whizz behind the scenes - be it inventory management, ordering, pricing, discounting, or thinking of innovative ways to minimise food waste. In-depth knowledge of cheese and/or wine is a definite advantage. Social media experience and an interest in contributing to our Instagram is a bonus.

  • 4 days a week (open to this being 5 or 3 for the right candidate) including Saturdays.

  • £22,600 p.a. pro rata plus a great benefits package.

  • We actively welcome applications from a diverse range of candidates.

  • NB if this advert looks familiar, we are re-advertising this role due to the wonderful person we hired having a serious health issue that meant she had to resign. You can talk to her about her time with us if useful.
