Job description

We are looking for an energetic, creative and reliable person to lead the Allotment of Refuge for a period of 6 months (with possible extension to a year), starting late November 2024, while the current Project Lead is on maternity leave.

The right person will have the following skills:

• excellent at engaging and facilitating diverse groups of people
• excellent at managing and leading group sessions
• good leadership skills but with a dedication to lifting up minoritised voices and working collaboratively 
• good project management skills, including future planning and keeping track of administrative tasks such as budget handling
• a passion for engaging people in food sovereignty and land justice
• a passion for developing people’s land-based skills by sharing knowledge

Ideally they will have experience of:

• leading a community food or land project, including managing groups of volunteers
• working with racialised and/or minoritised communities, such as people seeking asylum, or recent migrants to the UK
• working with both adults and children
• organic food growing for harvest and sustainable land practices

A level 2 diploma in horticulture is preferred, but not essential if the person can demonstrate sufficient food growing experience. A DBS check will be required as is the current right to work in the UK.

Salary: £32,980 pa pro rata

Hours: 10.5 including Tuesday, Friday and periodic weekend days

Location: One Tree Hill Allotments, Honor Oak Park, SE23 3NP and some work from home
