About Galeta

We are Galeta Bakery, we started on a market stall 8 years ago and since then we have grown into a thriving wholesale bakery.  Having specialised in sweet treats since starting, our bakery is about to launch an artisan bread range. 

We are proud to bring the finest product to market and bread will be no exception, across london we supply some of the finest eatery’s, independent cafes, museums and cinema’s. We want our breads to be the best in the market and you will be a key part of this journey. 

About the Role

This role will be an exciting fresh start for someone looking to grow with an established company as they take steps in a new direction.

We are looking for a passionate and preferably experienced sourdough baker who is familiar with working with naturally leavened bread.

An all rounder who is reliable in following procedures and recipes in bulk, confident with mixing & using commercial machinery, hand shaping doughs and last but not least comfortable working with deck ovens.

Although someone with a background in sourdough is preferred, we would also be interested in applications from someone with a baking or chef background who is passionate, eager to learn and looking to grow with the company.

Shifts will be on an alternating two week rota of both morning starts and later finishes, so you will always be working in one timezone for a week.

Working 5 days across the full week, shifts will be between 8-9 hours long depending on size of production.

Essential Experience

  • At least 2 years experience working within either a commercial bakery or kitchen.
  • A passion for good food and quality ingredients
  • Some experience making commercially yeasted breads from start to finish
  • Some knowledge of sourdough & naturally leavened breads

Desirable Experience

  • At least 1 year working within a commercial bakery producing sourdough
  • Has used baker’s percentages or is familiar with how it works
  • Familiar with using Desired Dough Temperature (DDT) method
  • Confident with handling and hand shaping dough, with a flexibility to learn our method
  • Accustomed to how dough looks and feels at all stages of production 

About Safe Working During Covid

Extra measures have been taken within the workplace to ensure a safer working environment. As the nature of the work means we are unable to socially distance ourselves the whole time, we have made wearing masks in the workplace mandatory and the already existing strict hygiene policies within the kitchen environment are being thoroughly upheld.

The bakery is a 5-minute walk from Perivale underground station but until public transport is a more viable option there is ample parking on site and the new A40 fully segregated bike lane runs all the way from White City with plenty of indoor bike storage in the building.
