St George the Martyr Church

Posted: 07/09/2020

Deadline: 18/09/2020

Compensation: £10.75 (London Living Wage)

Paid Part-time Fixed term / contract

Job description

Since March we have been running a Food Hub to provide a healthy basket of food for those struggling to access or afford food in the local area.  Over the course of this response to COVID-19 a longer term local need has become apparent and the church wishes to respond.  From October we are transitioning our food project into a café and co-operative food store.  Our principle so far has been to provide people with the sort of food we would want to provide for our loved ones and we want to run both the shop and café on this principle.  We are seeking to recruit someone who will lead and manage this transition, and develop the co-operative and café to be self-sustaining financially.  We currently provide food to around 120 households for free, we hope to sign as many of them up to the new membership scheme as possible as well as publicising it to reach others at risk of food insecurity in the local area.

Initially, this will be a 3 month fixed contract from October to the end of December.  The contract will be 20 hours a week with times and days to be agreed.  Flexibility is needed and this may include some evening or weekend working.  The role will be at London Living Wage which is currently £10.75 per hour.
