About Good Food Oxford and this role

Good Food Oxford (GFO) is a cross-sector network of organisations working together for healthier, fairer and more sustainable food for Oxfordshire.

GFO supports initiatives that increase the beneficial outcomes from our food system – as set out in the Oxford Good Food Charter.

GFO’s objectives are organised within the work areas of:

  1. Good Food Businesses – building Oxfordshire’s sustainable food economy
  2. Good Food For All – ensuring everyone is able to eat well every day
  3. Changing Our Ways – driving behaviours for healthy and sustainable food use

The task of GFO is to identify and catalyse the most effective actions within the network, develop and support projects, devise and collaboratively implement an Oxfordshire Food Strategy, and ensure the future sustainability of food in Oxfordshire.

GFO takes a “Collective Impact” approach, operating along the lines of a “backbone organisation”.

GFO is part of the Sustainable Food Places Network and to date a significant portion of our funding has come via our relationship with SFP and their partner organisations. We also have matched funding from Oxfordshire Public Health. Our relationship with SFP is key to ensure that we are well positioned to successfully bid for grant funding opportunities that regularly arise through their programmes and partners.

Summary of role

The Fundraiser and Stakeholder Engagement Lead works collaboratively with the Good Food Oxford Manager to ensure that the organisation has sufficient funding to cover its core costs and support its organisational objectives and plans.

The stakeholder engagement element of the role involves optimising stakeholder relationships and setting the direction for communications and interactions with these stakeholders.  You will work closely with the Network Coordinator and Communications Officer to oversee the delivery of the stakeholder engagement and communications plans.

The main tasks of the role are:

  • Raise a minimum of £60,000 funding to cover GFO’s core and project delivery costs for March 2021-February 2022.
  • Manage the process for submitting funding bids
  • Manage the process for reporting to funders and Directors against targets
  • Develop a stakeholder engagement and communications plan to engage key stakeholders and work with the GFO Manager and Network Coordinator to implement this.

Person specification

This is an exciting and challenging role that requires an individual with an entrepreneurial approach to fundraising and a track record of fundraising for small organisations.

You will be passionate about and have good knowledge of food system sustainability issues to understand how GFO’s strategic objectives fit with funders’ priorities.  Given the breadth of GFO’s work – straddling the entire food system, you will need to be creative and flexible in your approach and embrace a wide range of funding sources and models.

You will have excellent communications skills and be confident engaging with a wide range of stakeholders including funders, public sector management, our network members and the general public.

You will be self-starting and able to plan and manage your own time and workload with oversight from the GFO Manager.

You will enjoy working collaboratively as part of a small and dynamic team.

Application information

Please download an application pack from the Good Food Oxford website, and send your completed application and (confidential) monitoring form to mail@goodfoodoxford.org. The deadline for applications is 7th December 2020. Interviews will be held in Oxford between 9th-16th December 2020.

Good Food Oxford encourages applications from people from a wide range of different backgrounds and with a variety of different experiences.
