Job description

ASSISTANT GROWER WANTED

Start Date: April 2021

Haye Farm is a 66 acre mixed organic farm located in East Devon. We have a herd of Red Devon cows, breeding Gloucester Old Spot sows, Exlana sheep, egg laying chickens, a butchery and a brewery. Our aim is to create sustainable food systems which support high levels of productivity whilst encouraging an increase in biodiversity and wildlife.

The successful vegetable business, established 6 years ago, produces for a number of restaurants and shops on an area of 3 acres. The set-up includes three production polytunnels, two propagation tunnels, a large packing room, a refrigerated storage room, and associated machinery and equipment.

Desirable skills:

• At least one year of growing experience
• Experience using machinery i.e. strimmer, mower, hand tools
• Thorough, precise and well organised
• Good team work and able to follow instructions
• Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently
• Basic IT skills and good record keeping

Salary is dependent on skills and experience.
