Deadline: 19/05/2021

Compensation: £25-26,000 per annum, pro rata

Job description

We are looking for a highly competent maintenance gardener with considerable experience of amenity horticulture who will oversee our commercial garden projects and help us expand and develop this facet of our work. You will also use your experience and practical knowledge to work with and mentor trainees on work experience as they carry out the regular maintenance rounds with you and assist with other tasks, maintaining all our projects to a high standard. Working with our wider team and trainees, you will also be responsible for scoping out, designing and implementing new projects.

Global Generation aims to create a welcoming, caring and learning culture in which we recognise and promote the diversity of people and nature, breaking down barriers to engagement to help build resilient communities and environments, and work together towards creating a more inclusive, equitable and just world.   Our work connects people of all ages to nature in the middle of the city.  Focusing on the development of the whole person, we provide support for children and young people to grow themselves, grow relationships and grow a new vision for the future.  We are now based in the Story Garden next to the British Library and have a satellite garden in Southwark.

As part of our expanding Garden Services, we also design, create and maintain interior and exterior gardens with local restaurants and businesses in King’s Cross, Regents Place and Euston, as well as with schools and community groups.‚ÄčThis commercial aspect of our work is important, bringing unrestricted income to the organisation, and also helps us build relationships with the local business community to open up further opportunities for collaborative work and the chance for young people and the local community to get involved, learn new skills and potentially find paid work.
