Job description

We are looking for one full time or two part time (job shared) for this position. Candidate must have legal working status in the UK.

Permanent/Contract: 1 year contract (renewable subject to funding) 

Starting Salary:  £19,000 - 20,000 per annum depending on experience (part-time on pro-rata basis)  

Job location: We are based in North London and offer the flexibility to work from home but travelling to schools are required on a weekly basis (term-time) to conduct workshops

Project Background 

Funded by Lee Kum Kee (Europe), the FUN Healthy Chinese Cuisine Ambassadors was found in 2015 by Ming-Ai (London) Institute. We have created an impact to over 5000 secondary students and more than 300 food teachers, sharing Chinese culture and healthy eating practices through our free talks and cookery workshops.  

In 2021, we’ve launched our online workshops on Microsoft Teams, where teachers could access our resources for their food lessons. We delivered online talks and sauces to these schools, where we received positive feedback from the teachers. Our next step is to offer online Teacher Training workshops to our network of food teachers. 

The ideal candidate will be providing support to our online talks and deliver cooking demonstration at secondary schools across the UK as we resume in-person workshops. You will be required to travel locally and nationally (overnight trips if necessary).  You will also be designing content and layout for our social media posts and assist the project manager in developing materials for our online workshops. Some experience with using video editing software is highly desirable. 

We are a small dedicated team within the Institute and the right candidate needs to be able to prioritise tasks and willing to contribute ideas to the project, collaborating with other team members.

  • Assist in organising and delivering online and in-person workshops for students aged 12 – 16. (Training will be provided); 

  • Incorporate the use of sponsor products to promote Chinese cooking that is relevant to the school curriculum 

  • Assist the lead trainer in the smooth running of online teacher training workshops; 

  • Arrange the delivery of sauce materials to schools, and ensure items are packed securely and in the correct order; 

  • Track and collect feedback from students and teachers for project evaluation; 

  • Manage and design educational contents, recipes, and project posts on social media  Create educational and promotional content across social media and other digital platforms; 

  • Assist in the data migration of the FUN website undergoing a ‘facelift’; 

  • Provide administrative support as required to facilitate the smooth running of the project 



The successful candidate: 

  • Based in London or within commute distance, travelling to office and schools for workshops; 

  • Occasional Saturday work required during Teacher Training Workshops, where time off in lieu will be given; 

  • Confident in presentation and demonstration in front of a class of secondary students; 

  • A good understanding of Chinese culture and cooking; 

  • Knowledge in design and video editing tools, eg. Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro etc.; 

  • Expert in using Microsoft Teams for communications, and experience in using it as an education platform; 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; establish positive working relationships with other project members and stakeholders; 

  • An ambition to develop new skills and gradually take on more responsibilities; 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 


  • Experience in working in a community or educational setting; 

  • Knowledge and understanding in the UK curriculum of Food Preparation and Nutrition; 

  • Experience in managing social media platforms; 

  • Creative flair and the ability to interpret briefs and transform ideas into visual language aimed at students and teachers; 

  • Ability to work with various stakeholders, including more vulnerable groups (i.e., mainstream education and SEN school pupils);  

  • Second language skills

We visited over 120 high schools across the UK since 2015 with the core aim of encouraging students and teachers to experiment with Chinese cooking by demonstrating how easy, healthy and delicious home-made Chinese food can be.
