Job description

The CompanyElysia, founded in 2016 - Spa Terminus

Elysia is the pioneering UK catering company dedicated to prepare delicious dishes from high-quality surplus ingredients.

We prepare breakfasts and canapés with high quality food of local independent producers that would otherwise be wasted due to natural imperfections, cancelled orders or oversupply. We work within growers and producers to create a market for rejected crop and ensure nothing is wasted. We cater for events (private and corporate) for up to 400 guests and deliver in central London by bicycle.

Since Sophie started the company in 2016, we have built a trusted brand known for the quality of the catering service and we are now ready to scale up our activity! 

​We are a small team so your work would really matter - it would involve lots of responsibility and being 1 of a small team means you immediately have an impact and are able to make changes fast. We are very excited to recruit new team members! 

​The company is based at Spa Terminus, a fantastic community of high standard food businesses.

The position

Availability: Immediately (2 days/week)

Remuneration: £12-15/hour depending on experience - Freelance role for 3 months and employee position available afterwards

Key missions:

  • Designing new menus (breakfasts, lunch and canapes) using rescued food from local producers
  • Food collection from our suppliers
  • Food preparation for our events
  • Food display at the client venue
  • Representing the brand Elysia and sharing the story of the food and our creations to our partners and producers
  • Managing a team on events
  • (And ideally cycling to the venue)

Skills

​We are looking for a chef with:

  • Experience in catering: cooking and food preparation for events
  • Experience in food styling (an eye for details - the presentation of the food must be beautiful)
  • A real interest in food sustainability  
  • Uncompromising approach to quality and an enthusiastic temper
  • The ability to work quickly and efficiently
  • Independent & ability to work alone - we are a very small team focussing on different missions so we might not always work together
