Job description

Job Purpose:

  • To develop and maintain a vibrant social media presence
  • To support the Schools Engagement Officer with all projects and membership opportunities
  • To work with our Web Developer to maintain the School Food Matters website
  • To ensure that our database and mailing lists are accurate and up to date

Key Tasks include:

  • ensuring that we maintain a vibrant social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
  • ensuring that our website is kept up to date
  • tracking our impact on social media
  • briefing volunteers on comms requirements (photos, data, quotes)
  • managing and maintaining our photo library
  • providing project support to the Schools Engagement Officer both in the office and on-site
  • organising opportunities for our members such as Cooking Ideas and Kitchen Garden Ideas
  • promoting our projects and events through the website and social media
  • understanding and disseminating new processes and functionality of the new website
  • managing our Google Ad grant and ensuring that our ads remain effective
  • preparing Marketing and Media Reports for Trustee Meetings (three per year)
  • liaising with partner organisations for joint marketing of our projects
  • working with the Chief Executive to produce and distribute our newsletters (two per term)
  • working with the Chief Executive to update our Latest News
  • periodically reviewing links (current and potential new links) for the School Food Matters website
  • updating our press list and developing relations with local press to build our press profile
  • generating media for our projects by writing and distributing press releases
  • adding press articles to the website and social media
  • investigating awards of interest to the charity and coordinating submissions
  • the Social Media/Project Assistant will also undertake any other tasks relevant to the affairs of SFM that may arise from time to time, in association with core and other staff, volunteers and contractors. Therefore being flexible and approaching the whole thing with an open and positive mind is essential!
