Job description
Haye Farm is looking for an experienced mixed livestock farmer to join our small team. Haye Farm is a certified Organic farm covering just over 400 acres of beautiful countryside in East Devon. Our Ruby Red Devon cattle, Exlana ewes graze in small paddocks and are moved regularly through our mob grazing system. Our 9 breeding sows are integrated into the mixed system by cultivating ground ready for arable. We grow heritage grains and wheat as well as combi crops for animal feed (pigs and chickens), using the straw for bedding down the laying hens and cattle during the winter.
An interest in Organic farming systems is preferable or a willingness to learn about such systems. Experience in handling livestock: cattle, sheep and pigs. Chainsaw license would be an advantage. Full driving license is essential for tractor driving, mule and quadbike.
Must be willing to work flexible hours and weekends (not every weekend). Flexible hours due to seasonality, calving and lambing.
