Job description

Established in March 2018, we are a multi award winning artisan bakery in Chipping Norton. Our bakerysupplies handmade ‘real’ bread on a wholesale basis,daily; to local shops and delis, pubs, hotels and restaurants.

Our awards to date: 

5 World Bread Awards 2017-2019 – 4 Bronze and 1 Silver -  for 3 of our sourdough

2019 Baking Industry Awards Finalist for “Customer Focus” in our second year of operating.

2021 Baking Industry Awards Finalist for “Baker of the Year“ awarded October 21  

Every product in our bakery is hand-made to order. Our bakery is looking for three (ideally) artisan skilled and experienced bakers. These additional bakers are required to full-fill existing business orders for shops and delis and for expansion of requested products linesto our pubs, hotels and restaurants. We also have a waiting list of further businesses waiting for our bakery to supply them with our award winning bread. 

The primary experience we require:

• You will ‘understand’ dough, not just measuring and follow a recipe

• As an experienced baker you will be able to make adjustments to cope with changing daily weather and humidity. 

• Someone who understands the variable hydration properties of different batches of flour, and has experience with long fermentation dough. 

• It is essential to know how to work and shape with high hydration sourdough.

• To hand shape various loaves, rolls and seamless baguettes is a must.

• Experience in lamination would be advantageous. 

The perfect candidate is:

• Someone with passion and a great work ethic. 

• Someone who has good attention to detail.  

• We are a small team, so they need to be a good team player.

As a night bakery, our bakery shifts: 

• Usually start from the hours 5pm to 6pm depending on the night of the week. 

• Usually are 8-9 hours per session depending on the night of the week. 

• 6 nights a week. (Sunday 6pm to Saturday 4am) 


• Starting salary £12 per hour, reviewed after 3 months. 

• This hourly rate equates to £31,824 per annum based on an average of 8.5 hrs x 6 nights per week)

A company pension scheme is available after a qualifying period.

The role may suit a talented patisserie chef with a true passion for breadmaking.

We are an award winning artisan bakery based in Chipping Norton in the Cotswolds. We make the best sourdough and also yeasted tins and brioche burger buns. We supply farm shops, restaurants and the upmarket pubs within a 20 mile radius of the bakery.
