Job description

We’re looking for a Business Development & Digital Lead to join us at Husk & Honey.

We’re looking for someone to join our granola bakery in Bermondsey, and work across our digital efforts as well as contribute to our Business Development work. The role is quite varied, hence the ‘wide’ job title!

We’re a small and dedicated team, working across Production (in our railway arch production kitchen) and Operations (on the arch mezzanine, upstairs!). Almost everything we do we do in-house, which makes this an invaluable opportunity to really get to grips with a growing, and well-regarded, independent food business and learn the tricks of the trade, from the ground up. We are looking for someone who wants to join the team for the longer term.

The role consists of three main areas; a limited amount of troubleshooting customer service on emails, inbound new stockist enquiries and wholesale account management, and ownership and management of our Digital platforms.

We’re after, ideally, someone –

  • Looking to move into a dynamic working environment
  • With at least 3+ years working client-side in a hands-on digital marketing or business development role (agency-side would also be considered)
  • With exceptional communication skills, and the ability to tailor them to the task at hand
  • Detail-orientated and quality-obsessed…
  • …but also pragmatic and efficient
  • With a passion for small business, independent food companies, and an understanding of the key concepts of a product-focussed business
  • Dazzling organisational skills
  • Who wants to commit to a brand and not only drive their own career, but work with the team to grow the business
  • With a sense of humour! We are a small, friendly team - sometimes, you just have to laugh

In terms of the detail, the role will entail –

  • BAU website updates (via a CMS) and associated third party platform management, including a longer-term programme of Organic Search and Conversion Rate Optimisation work
  • Devising and executing Social Media activity on our core channels
  • Creating content (both visual and longer form written) for our Social channels, Bulletin and Journal
  • Planning, executing and managing Paid Advertising campaigns across Google Ads and Facebook Ads Manager
  • Liaising with new stockist prospects, and maintaining the supporting sales collateral
  • Managing relationships with existing stockists, and processing new wholesale orders
  • Managing both new and existing third party partnerships
  • Occasional technical troubleshooting for customers
  • Following established systems and processes, and implementing new ones
  • Working with the team towards SALSA accreditation
  • Taste-testing the new recipes and developments!

Desired skills –

  • Confidence in managing and working within the Shopify eCommerce platform
  • Confidence in managing and working within both Google Ads and Facebook Ads Manager
  • Confidence in managing and working within Organic Social channels
  • Confidence in devising and executing marketing campaigns across Organic, Paid and Email channels
  • Confidence in working within the Microsoft Office suite, most notably Excel
  • Proficiency with data analysis and financial modelling a bonus

Salary: Pay to be discussed, based on expertise. Please do include an indication of your preferred rates in your cover letter. This role is not PAYE.

Perks: Staff lunches, Monmouth Coffee, discount on our products, staff days out and opportunity for development courses supported by the company.

Hours: 3-4 working days per week (exact days and hours can be discussed)

Lunches and leave: An unpaid lunch break of up to 40 minutes can be taken during the day at the company lunch times, and leave days can be requested in advance (no set amount of leave days, but be reasonable!).
