Job description

We always need more volunteers to help our friendly team maintain this beautiful community garden.

Whatever your experience, there is much you can get involved in. Whether you are a complete novice and want to learn about gardening or you have gardening experience or particular knowledge to share with others, you are welcome. Just let us know what you want from volunteering and if you have some special skills or understanding that you can offer. The garden is run on sound ecofriendly principles.

Activities include:

  • Planting - trees, shrubs, perennials and bulbs. You don't have to, but we encourage our volunteers to help make design and plant choice decisions. 
  • Vegetable growing and seed collecting in the allotment. There is also a chance of renting your own raised bed if one becomes available.
  • Tidying and pruning (there may be some weeding).
  • Looking after the compost.
  • Training, running workshops or running a team for a particular project. 
  • Helping to improve and maintain the wild flower meadow.
  • Sign making.
  • Helping with events.
  • Maintaining hard landscaping features.

About Friends of Harlesden Town Garden

Harlesden Town Garden is an award winning urban green space situated in the heart of Harlesden. The Friends, with the help and generosity of local volunteers, charities and funders, created this beautiful community garden for everyone to enjoy. We have raised beds, play and games areas, a wild flower meadow, flower beds, fruit trees and a clubhouse. The garden is run on sound ecological principles to promote bio-diversity. We have a volunteer club and host regular community events.
