Job description

The Seed Cooperative’s mission is to support the collective work of those striving to make agroecological farming and food sovereignty a reality. The Seed Co-operative grows, processes, and sells open-pollinated organic and biodynamic seed for professional and recreational growers. Its shareholders are mainly the community of growers it serves.

The successful candidate will have personal and professional credibility with proven marketing campaign experience, including digital marketing and copywriting. The role requires strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities and presentation and networking capabilities.

Most of the work can be undertaken remotely. The six Board meetings a year will be held in person at various locations within the UK when circumstances allow.

The time commitment estimate is 12-24 days per year for an initial 3-year period. This is essentially a pro-bono position, although a modest honorarium is available if needed, plus travelling expenses and project work can be paid.

Purpose:

Develop and continuously improve the Seed Cooperative’s intelligence regarding current and potential customer and shareholder communities to differentiate and prioritise offers.

Optimise the quality, frequency and format of interaction with these communities to increase sales and turnover in line with the range and quantity of seed supplies available and grow the shareholder base.

Responsibilities:

Develop, maintain and monitor a rolling three-year sales and marketing plan, within the context of an integrated business strategy, including competitor research, advertising, social media, marketing content and commercial partnerships.

Convene and optimise the contribution of a sub-committee of subject matter experts and staff involved in marketing.

Ensure that relevant staff have the opportunity for professional development and have appropriate external professional support.

Expected start date: on appointment
