Job description

Do you want to help create a better food system? Come and join the Better Food Traders, supporting the work of this dynamic network in a fully flexible, part-time role.

Better Food Traders is a UK-wide network of ethical retailers that is helping to build a more sustainable food system. Our membership is growing rapidly and we are underpinned by a small, friendly and committed team of staff and freelancers. We are looking for someone with strong administration skills to help Better Food Traders expand into a successful and nationally-known network – increasing the visibility and impact of enterprises that sell locally grown, planet friendly food.

We are looking for a Network Coordinator to work 1 day/7 hours a week on a flexible basis, initially from February to December 2023. You can work largely remotely and will report into the Network Manager.

Main Duties

• Support outreach to new members and ensure a smooth application process. 
• Manage the on-boarding process - sending out welcome packs, adding new data to our system, and creating profiles on our website. 
• Support the Network Manager with planning our member events. 
• Help manage the BFT Members’  Slack channels. 
• Contribute to the development of written member materials and social posts. 
• Work with the Network Manager on development of email lists and other ways of organising our member communications.

About Better Food Traders

Better Food Traders is a UK-wide food retailers’ network established to improve sustainability in the food system, by increasing sales of food that is better for people and the planet. All Better Food Traders are governed by a set of principles that ensures their food is farmed sustainably, traded fairly, and builds community to inspire and drive change. We support our members through advice and training, peer-support, coordinated marketing campaigns, and national advocacy to give a voice to this sector. 

Details

• Fixed term contract until end of December 2023
• 7 hours per week
• Employment on a PAYE basis, or open to hiring a Freelancer
• Employee £12.55 ph (includes staff benefits) / Freelance £15 ph 
• Remote working, with the option to hotdesk and hold meetings at the Growing Communities office in Stoke Newington, London. 
• Weekly team meeting on Wednesday mornings 9.30-10am - not essential but good if you can join regularly.
