Job description
About our Organisation
The Soil Association, formed in 1946, is the only UK charity which works across the spectrum of human health, the environment and animal welfare. That’s because we cannot tackle these issues in isolation.
We campaign for change, we support farming innovation, we serve healthy food in communities, we support and grow the organic market, and we protect forests. We couldn't do any of this without our supporters, partners, donors and dedicated staff. We make a difference in the world where it’s needed the most.
Soil Association Certification offers a huge range of organic and sustainable certification schemes across food, farming, catering, health and beauty, textiles and forestry which are recognised and trusted by consumers and businesses around the world. We’re the UK’s leading organic certifier – you’ll find our symbol on over 70% of organic products.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Health & Beauty Team. This role will see you working with licensees in the cosmetics sector across the supply chain from manufacturing, wholesaling, and retail through to brand holders. You will be handling all aspects of organic certification for our portfolio of health & beauty businesses - reviewing formulations, artwork, and inspection reports, making certification decisions and ensuring compliance with the standards. We are in daily contact with our licensees so you will need to be able demonstrate technical understanding of the cosmetics industry and organic standards, as well as be able to build and maintain relationships.
About You
To be successful in this role you will be educated to degree level, or have equivalent experience, in a cosmetic formulation/science, chemistry or quality management discipline. You will have a keen eye for detail, a confident approach to service delivery and the ability to provide solutions within tight deadlines. You will be an excellent relationship builder, highly organised and have an awareness of the commercial demands on cosmetics businesses. We are looking for you to demonstrate an ability to manage your own workload and to show excellent customer service skills on the phone and face to face. Excellent computer literacy, verbal and written communication skills are must.
