Working hours: 35 hours a week

Location: 49 Roman Pavement, Lincoln, Lincs, LN2 5RD; Hillside Community Garden, Ellie’s Garden and other outreach locations

Reporting to: Green Synergy Chief Executive

Overall Purpose: The role is responsible for developing, promoting and delivering a programme of community projects, events and activities as part of our See How Our Garden Grows project and other funded community engagement projects. This will be in line with Funder requirements and Green Synergy Policies

Green Synergy Community Engagement Programme The Community Engagement Coordinator role is central to delivering our See How Our Garden Grows (SHOGG) project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF). The role is responsible for developing, promoting and delivering a programme of community projects, events and activities for SHOGG and other community engagement funded projects. This involves strengthening existing partnerships and creating new ones with the local community, schools, public health and Lincoln County Hospital, other voluntary organisations and support groups, local businesses, and public sector- services. The Community Engagement Coordinator will work closely with the Community Development and Delivery Manager, Hillside Garden Manager and the wider staff team to develop these services and opportunities.

Purpose of Role:

  • This role covers the project development and delivery of the See How Our Garden Grows NLCF project and other community engagement funded projects.
  • Developing and delivering community engagement events, workshops and activities
  • Proactively engaging with our local communities, organisations, charities and community groups to positively raise the profile of Green Synergy’s charitable work.
  • Organising trips and and additional activities to enable our community to experience different spaces and places.
  • Overseeing our volunteer recruitment and supporting volunteers and visitors.
  • To oversee our charity’s community listening and consultation programmes producing appropriate reports, summaries and responses.
  • Attending meetings relevant to funders and project delivery.

Responsiblities

  • Work with the local community to design and deliver a regular programme of community engagement activities on our gardens, the Tower Estate and outreach into our communities.
  • Undertake proactive community listening and consultation activities to provide informed community views into our community engagement programme and follow the five levels of community enagement to Inform, Consult, Involve, Collaborate and Empower.
  • Support Green Synergy’s children’s project team to connect with schools through assemblies etc and set up visits to Hillside Community Garden.
  • Develop a programme of wider community engagement through larger seasonal events, workshops and community activities.
  • Work together with the CEO and wider staff team to create an engaging programme of activities and events to generate income and support funding applications development to generate income.
  • Support the Green Synergy wider staff team with promotion and coordination of events and activities.
  • Be responsible for effectively communicatiing the events, programmes and actrivities through Green Synergy’s social media platforms and website, including responsibility for the production and distribution of Green Synergy’s electronic newsletter.
  • Conduct and review project risk assessments as required
  • Be responsible for the project budget/s and reconciliation.
  • Contribute to the production of project reports and funding bids
  • Be responsible for project monitoring and evaluation including our Social Value Engine capture and evaluation.

General Duties

  • Work effectively and collaboratively with other staff and volunteers.
  • Abide by Green Synergy’s policies and endeavour to always follow good working practices, paying particular attention to Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Equality Diversity and Inclusion and Green Synergy’s values.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties to support the charitable activities of Green Synergy, such as fundraising or community engagement events.
  • Work effectively and considerately with other Green Synergy employees and volunteers to promote the aims and objectives of Green Synergy and present a positive image of Green Synergy to members and the public.
  • Work to and promote Green Synergy’s values and as an ambassador for the charity.
