Job description

About our Organisation

The Soil Association, formed in 1946, is the only UK charity which works across the spectrum of human health, the environment and animal welfare. That’s because we cannot tackle these issues in isolation.

We campaign for change, we support farming innovation, we serve healthy food in communities, we support and grow the organic market, and we protect forests. We couldn't do any of this without our supporters, partners, donors and dedicated staff. We make a difference in the world where it’s needed the most.

Soil Association Certification offers a huge range of organic and sustainable certification schemes across food, farming, catering, health and beauty, textiles and forestry which are recognised and trusted by consumers and businesses around the world. We’re the UK’s leading organic certifier – you’ll find our symbol on over 70% of organic products.

About the Opportunity

An opportunity to work at a senior level internationally (including UK & Ireland, North America, Scandinavia and Australia) in our growing Forestry team to have global impact. We work mainly with FSC and PEFC forest management and chain of custody certification schemes, delivering support to the wider team and our worldwide network, covering about 60 countries. This position leads a team of people to deliver certification in the regions. Every day is different, and challenging, and you will be working with a fantastic group of people to ensure we deliver with the highest integrity, credibility and customer service.

About You

You will bring extensive practical experience of either forest management and/or experience in the forest products sector, ideally internationally; a strong knowledge of the how certification standards in the forestry sector work; and ideally significant experience leading audits for FSC and/or PEFC certification. You have experience managing a small - medium-sized team, managing delivery of work to budget, and bring high levels of customer service experience.
