Job description

We are looking for THREE  hard-working and curious cheese enthusiasts to join our Cheese Maturation Team this Christmas at our London (Bermondsey) site. The roles commence in early October and run through to the end of the year.

Our Maturation Team is responsible for a wide range of tasks, including receiving deliveries, stock management of all cheese and non-cheese goods, quality control and maturation of all the cheeses we sell, as well as lots of cleaning, logistics, and site management.

The maturation team manages a constant flow of goods in and out, and priorities can change from one moment to the next. You’ll need to be a quick learner and an adept listener and observer. Proactivity, accuracy, and attention to detail are all essential skills. The role is physical; you will be on your feet and moving throughout the day, as well as lifting and moving lots of cheese.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to work accurately and at pace, and keen to learn more about our cheese and the work that we do. A background in the food industry will be advantageous but is not essential.

Finally, during the busiest period in December you may be required to work the late shift (14:30-23:30) so you will need to ensure you can manage the commute from Bermondsey at that time.

Requirements:

  • The roles are a Fixed Term temporary role respectively commencing 09/10, 16/10, 31/10 or 13/11
  • The role is a Full Time (5 day per week), and rotas will include some weekend days as we move towards the busiest period
  • The weeks daily shift rotas are currently 07:30 -16:30. During November and December the weeks rota will include daily 9-hour shift rotas between the hours of 04:00 and 23:30.
  • The Fixed Term period for the four roles will end on 31st December 2023

Benefits:

  • An hourly rate of £11.95 per hour (plus holiday pay)
  • A generous staff discount.
  • Full on-the-job training
  • Our teams cook up fabulous lunches every day and there is a steady supply of fresh bread and cheese available to everyone.

The working day requires prolonged periods of standing and moving heavy cheeses from one place to another.  The working temperature varies too, and it does get cold!

All applications will require proof of eligibility to work in the UK.

To apply, please complete the form below ASAP as we are processing candidate CVs as they arrive.  We aim to contact successful candidates within 7 days of their application and reserve the right to close our vacancy earlier than advertised.
