Job description

About the role

Propagation Place is the Farm’s eCommerce Community Business where a small team of staff and local volunteers grow and dispatch over 2000 orders of vegetable plug plants, amounting to over 100,000 individual plants, both locally and nationwide each growing season. All profits from sales are used to fund the work  we do in our local community. The project was born out of a consultation to find out how to better support our local food system while providing accessible volunteering, training, and employment opportunities from our relatively small urban site. The two Project Assistants will be responsible for supporting the Propagation Place Project through picking and packing and sales of vegetable plug plants as well as being part of all other aspects of the project.

  • Assist with stock management of both plants and seeds and add to sowing lists as necessary
  • Participate in achieving order delivery targets
  • Support volunteers with horticultural tasks
  • Undertake the role of an advocate and enable self-advocacy of beneficiaries/volunteers

Your approach

  • Commitment to learning new skills
  • Passionate about food growing, building resilient communities, and caring for nature.
  • Able to work efficiently and prioritise tasks
  • Commitment to inclusion, equality, and accessibility
