FarmED

FarmED is the pioneering Centre for Farm and Food Education based at Honeydale Farm in the Cotswolds. We are a not-for-profit Community Interest Company.  

We aim to be at the heart of local, regional and global agroecological transition. Our mission is to provide learning spaces and events that inspire, educate, and connect people to build sustainable farming and food systems that nourish people and regenerate the planet.  

We run a wide range  of courses and events for a diverse audience.  We regularly welcome schools, farming organisations and environmental groups to the farm. We host book launches, suppers, conferences and farm walks too.  Local businesses, NGOs and corporate clients can also ‘dry hire’ our wonderful eco-buildings for their own event.  Every day is different!

There is an on site farm to fork cafe and kitchen.  We are open Monday to Friday for coffee, cake and lunch. We feed people well and sustainably using vegetables from the kitchen garden and other very carefully sourced local producers.. We formally launched in 2021 and to date our reach and impact has been overwhelming.  It’s now time to grow and to make the most of the opportunities ahead.

This Role

In this newly created role you will help to spread the great news of FarmED’s work to a wider public audience. You will find new and innovative ways to communicate with our local community and the general public, encouraging attendance on our Friday Farm walks, courses and events. 

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Hold a relevant Bachelor's degree in agriculture or an environmental science
  • Ideally have 2 years’ experience of working in agriculture or sustainability 
  • Enjoy being a flexible team player with a positive, can do attitude & great communication skills with the ability to inspire others
  • Be a self-starter with bags of enthusiasm 
  • Have good IT skills
  • Be fluent in English
  • Be able to drive and have your own transport due to the remote location
  • Share the FarmED vision and core values; be environmentally conscious & be an ambassador for regenerative farming & food production.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Undertake Farm walks and introductions at public events and courses
  • Coordinate the annual Internship programme and mentor the Interns
  • Coordinate and manage our ongoing work experience students
  • Work closely with the Agricultural Lead and Events Coordinator to develop appropriate courses and events with wide public appeal
  • Manage the new “Lunchtime Talks” - arrange speakers, marketing & coordinate all aspects of this new initiative 
  • Initiate and coordinate the various volunteering days such as Apple Day, Orchard Pruning and new events such as Agroforestry strip maintenance
  • Undertake appropriate Outreach work, including building our public appearance at local food networking events, increasing Tour Group business and representing FarmED at relevant industry & public events
  • Engage with the Café audience through personal presence and conversation, undertake market research and encourage further involvement in FarmED
  • Work with the Digital Marketing Executive to continue to build the FarmED database
  • Coordinate feedback & evaluation to monitor performance and for funding reports
