Job description

The CSA Network UK is looking for a new part-time Communications and Events Manager to work alongside the Network Coordinator and Policy and Projects Manager. Together the three staff members will work towards the network vision of a CSA in every UK neighbourhood. 

  • Hours:  20 hours per week until March 2025 (funding secured) and then 16 hours per week after that if funding is achieved.
  • Remuneration: £30,930 per annum (pro rata)

About the role:

The CEM will work closely with the Network Coordinator to support the development of the strategic direction of the network and work with key stakeholders and partner organisations to establish beneficial relationships that extend and develop the CSA movement in the UK. 

We are looking for someone with excellent skills and experience across both communications and project management and with a strong commitment to local and sustainable food.

You will:

  • Devise and deliver a publicity and marketing strategy for the Network to oversee and manage promotion of the Network to external stakeholders via events, mainstream media, website, social media and other appropriate methods of communication. At the same time as increasing its visibility to those who might become CSA businesses.
  • Manage and develop the CSA Network brand and associated assets.
  • Manage the content and maintenance of the CSAN website in Wordpress.
  • Monitor and report on social media analytics to ensure engagement goals are being met.
  • Engage with and support wider sectoral communications work where appropriate.
  • Design, manage and deliver CSA member events across the UK, with the aim of delivering at least one in each of our eight regions / nations every two years.
  • Publicise and administer CSAN training including an online course, webinars and a face to face two-day course.
  • Work to recruit and maintain Network members, sponsors, supporters and donors.
  • Produce and distribute Network newsletters.
  • Support and publicise funding and funders through all media channels.
  • Take specific responsibility for GDPR and IP and related policies and procedures.

You will also:

  • On occasion, attend and present at other events relevant to the CSAN.
  • Work with the Network Coordinator and the board to ensure targets and milestones are met or exceeded within budget and in line with delivery schedules and the business plan.
  • Support the Network Coordinator in ensuring all legal and regulatory requirements for the network are met and relevant policies and procedures are in place, up to date and effective.
  • Support the Network Coordinator in managing relationships with funders and seeking funding for network activity.
  • Where appropriate, provide support to members through mentoring, advice, resources etc.
  • Develop and foster partnerships with other organisations and manage these relationships.

Person Specification

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated marketing and communications experience including social media and the ability to use social media analytics.
  • Demonstrated wordpress website administration and management skills and knowledge.
  • Demonstrated event management experience.
  • Project development and management experience.
  • Excellent spoken and written English and the ability to adapt written materials to different audiences.
  • Experience of using a brand and its assets.
  • Experience of copywriting.
  • Excellent ICT skills, including experience of websites and databases.
  • Monitoring and evaluation experience.
  • Knowledge of community supported agriculture and agroecological farming.
  • Well-organised and have good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional networks.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • An understanding of the challenges and opportunities of working remotely as part of a small team.
  • Experience of running a CSA.
  • Experience of developing a brand and its assets.
  • Experience of designing and delivering training.
  • Experience of designing and delivering a campaign.
  • Experience of recruiting and maintaining sponsors and donors.
  • Graphic design skills.
  • Experience of working with mainstream press and media.
  • Video making skills.
  • Experience of food growing/farming.
  • Experience of working with volunteers.
