Job description
We are looking to recruit a permanent, full-time solutions focussed health professional to join our growing Public Health team.
The postholder will be responsible for the development and implementation of key strategies for the team which promote health and wellbeing and aim to reduce health inequalities.
An understanding of the boroughs Foodscape is critical to this role.
Currently, the focus is on effective delivery of a Food Strategy; bringing partners together, facilitating collaboration and setting up a formal partnership to establish priorities based on local need and opportunities and set up an action plan that members of the network will be responsible for delivering and reporting on.
There will also be work focussed on the Healthier Catering Scheme, Healthy Eating for different Communities, Food Growing projects and trying to get Healthier Food on everyone’s agenda.
The Person
We are looking for a talented and resilient individual, motivated to address inequalities in health and wellbeing and with relevant experience to help deliver on complex agendas such as that of the Sustainable Food agenda.
You should be passionate about reducing health and social inequalities and improving access to affordable, nutritious sustainable food.
You must have excellent communication skills, strong leadership and management skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of different stakeholders.
You should be able to produce and present verbal/written reports to audiences with varying levels of seniority.
You will be highly organised and be comfortable working within a fast paced and reactive environment, where the focus is on the delivery and management of multiple programmes/projects and novel initiatives to high standards within tight timescales.
The post holder must be able to work independently without the need for substantial supervision and will be responsible for creating and sustaining good working relationships in support of developing and delivery of key Public Health outcomes within the council, NHS, Community and voluntary sector and other relevant partners and commissioned service providers.
You should be proficient in IT packages such as Power Point, Word and Excel.
We are currently working as a hybrid model, with at least 3 days per week in the office or at meetings in the borough.
