  • Part-time
  • 21 hours/week
  • Based in Cambridge and surrounding areas
  • £25,000–£27,000 pro rata
  • Flexible working required.

🍲 About the Role

We’re looking for a passionate Community Chef & Project Support Coordinator to lead our cookery programme and support a range of food justice and sustainability initiatives across Cambridge.

This isn’t just a job—it’s a chance to nourish your community, share skills that last a lifetime, and join a team committed to reimagining how we grow, cook, and share food. Whether you're a seasoned cook, community organiser, or kitchen wizard with a big heart, we want to hear from you.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Formal qualifications are less important than your energy, creativity, and commitment to people and planet. If you can inspire others around a chopping board and a shared meal, you’re in the right place.

What You’ll Do

As Lead Cookery Facilitator, you’ll:

  • Deliver friendly, accessible cookery sessions to diverse community groups—especially those facing barriers due to income, health, or social isolation.
  • Champion delicious, affordable, and sustainable food, using seasonal, plant-based ingredients and low-waste methods.
  • Adapt your teaching style to support different learning needs and confidence levels, creating a warm and inclusive space for all.
  • Plan fun, practical sessions with clear recipes and learning outcomes—and share these with your CSF team lead.
  • Bring your food safety know-how and ensure all sessions meet safeguarding, hygiene, and risk standards.
  • Manage lovely volunteers with clear communication and encouragement.
  • Help build community around food—sparking conversations about nutrition, budgeting, and climate-friendly choices.
  • Work to deliver cookery projects such as the Holiday Lunch Programme or Batch Cook Club.

As Project Support Coordinator, you’ll also:

  • Work with the CSF team to organise and deliver events, manage timelines, and keep projects on track.
  • Lend a hand with admin, fundraising campaigns, and evaluation—like collecting feedback or snapping a great photo of a shared meal.
  • Contribute to impact reports and share community stories that show how food can change lives.
  • Help plan and run meetings, and sometimes pitch in when a teammate’s away.
  • Stay connected with what’s happening in Cambridge’s local food world and keep our projects vibrant and relevant.

🧑‍🍳 Who You Are

  • You bring energy, empathy, and curiosity to your work.
  • You have experience in community cooking, teaching, or facilitation, especially with people from diverse or marginalised backgrounds.
  • You’re passionate about food justice, health equity, and sustainable food
  • You’re organised, proactive, and love juggling a few different plates.
  • You believe in collaboration, kindness, and making things happen—even on a shoestring budget.
  • You’re comfortable working on your own at times, and you’re happy to travel within Cambridge and beyond (car or transport essential).

💚 We Offer

  • A welcoming, values-driven team where your voice matters.
  • Opportunities to help shape our cookery programme and wider work.
  • On-the-job support and a commitment to your development.
  • First Aid and Food Safety training (if needed).
  • A flexible role that fits around your life—and changes lives

Apply now and bring your magic to the table. Whether you're a community kitchen veteran or just starting out, we value your journey. If this role speaks to you—even if you don’t meet every “tick box”—we encourage you to apply.
