Job description

We are looking for someone who wants to be part of a team that makes a positive and lasting difference to young people’s lives.

We are offering a zero-hours contract for someone who is available to support out holiday provision over the summer and potentially would be interested in working on some of our sessions weekly during the next academic year.

We will be running a daytime summer camp from Monday 28th July-Thursday 31st July. We will also be running holiday sessions during the summer holidays and October half term. During term time, we are keen to start a longer term after-school session for young people struggling with anxiety and poor mental health.

This could be a good job for someone who is looking to develop their skills working with young people.  

The post holder will play a role in supporting young people so they:

  • Make healthy connections to others.
  • Demonstrate improved initiative, independence and resilience.
  • Have improved health and wellbeing.
  • Gain knowledge and skills relevant to working with animals and outdoor / bushcraft work.

Your skill set

  • Experience working with young people.
  • Experience in managing the different personalities of young people.
  • Good communicator with the ability to work consistently, collaboratively and respectfully with a diverse team and develop good relationships.
  • Experience leading activities for small groups.
  • Ability to support and inspire children and young people.
  • Ability to give clear feedback on sessions.
  • You are able to work within organisational policies and procedures.

  • You take initiative and have an active approach to communication.

Specific roles and responsibilities

  • Work alongside the lead youth worker to deliver sessions for young people.
  • Lead some activities with support from the lead youth worker.
  • Help to monitor and evaluate the young people’s progress.
  • Inspire children’s interest in working with animals, agriculture and the natural world and help to develop their confidence, self-esteem and wellbeing.
