Job description

The Straw Kitchen is one of the most exciting places to eat in the Cotswolds right now. We were voted Best Cafe in the 2024 Slow Travel Awards. We are a female-led cafe/ restaurant serving over 200 covers daily, with a strong focus on seasonality, sustainability and foods from around the world.

We are looking for a dedicated Chef to join our kitchen team asap. If you want to work in a restaurant that strongly values:

You will be working alongside our existing female-led kitchen team, take part in daily prep for service and run a very busy service. 

We expect you to:

  • Have experience working a busy service 
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • The usual understanding of kitchen operations - stock rotation and inventory levels
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety practices
  • Concern for and understanding of sustainable kitchen practices

Tuesday - Saturday (Thursday Off)

Daily hours - 8am-5.30pm Working year - March - December - January & February off

Open to a job share - Flexible holidays

Experience is necessary but we are ready to train entry level chefs if you love food and are a quick learner. Pay will vary accordingly.

High quality, seasonality and provenance are our founding principles and we are fortunate to have excellent suppliers and growers on our doorstep. We also have our own kitchen garden where we grow interesting and rare veg for our kitchen. We are a contemporary, creative kitchen drawing our inspirations from cuisines from all over the world.
