Job description

Are you looking for some all-round farm experience? At Willobrook Farm we are looking for enthusiastic, hard-working and positive minded individuals who are happy to get stuck in and contribute to our ethical, sustainable small-scall entreprise.

We need help in our veg garden which supplies our farm café over our summer events. You name it, we're probably growing it and need someone to tak care of our seddlings and growing veg, weed and water the garden, monitor what is ready to harvest and areas that need specific attention. You will be working alongside our multi-generational team of enthusiastic and always busy gardeners.

We are looking for individuals who are keen to spend most of their time in the veg garden but happy to help with other tasks around the farm such as feeding and letting out birds, collecting eggs, mucking out pens and chicken cops. We also need help with wood processing, fencing, woodland management and our orchard of native trees needs some maintenance too. We are currently working on improving our irrigation system, finishing off some building work and more projects are on the line.

This is a volunteer position therefore UNPAID. Our live-in volunteers do 30 hours a week in exchange for food and accomodation which we are happy to offer if you are interested. If you would rather commute everyday we would be looking at 20 to 30 hours over 3 to 5 days a week.

Live-in volunteers start at 8am and carry on until 3pm with half an hour lunch break. Day-in volunteers start at 8 or 9am and carry on either until 12 or 1pm, or until 3pm with a lunch break depending on preference. Please get in touch to discuss arrangements. Please only apply if you can commit to a minimum of a month of live-in/consistent communting volunteering so you get the most of your experience with us.

About Willowbrook Farm

Our Farm is a family-run farm in Oxfordshire. We have poultry, sheep, goats and horses and a vegetable garden (which supplies the family and the farm café). We have also planted many trees since starting in 2002. Some of this is a fruit and nut orchard and the rest is managed sustainably to provide all the heat energy on the farm. We have also been constructing sustainable buildings including our large cob (earthen) farmhouse.
