Job description

Job Background

"Meals and a Chat" is one of the many services provided at Nourish Hub in partnership with the Council's Adult Social Care department. This service goes beyond the traditional "Meals on Wheels" program by offering a greater variety of meal options and social interaction through wellbeing checks during delivery.

We cater to a diverse range of dietary requirements and preferences, including Asian, Afro-Caribbean, Halal, and Classic British cuisines. Meals are delivered by electric cargo bike three days a week, supporting our commitment to environmental sustainability.

Delivery days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Minimum 12 hours a week with regular holiday cover for the Meals and a Chat Manager.

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver our Meals and Chat service to elderly and vulnerable residents of Hammersmith and Fulham, using our Electric-Cargo bike.
  • Provide a friendly face and a wellbeing check to our service users, reporting to the council’s social care team.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience engaging with a diverse community audience, remaining professional and approachable.
  • Awareness and understanding of social issues, particularly those affecting elderly and vulnerable residents
  • Confidence to ride an electric cargo bike across the borough
  • Excellent communicator and team player

Nourish Hub, located on the Edward Woods Estate in Hammersmith, is a vibrant community space created under the Mayor of London’s Good Growth initiative. Funded also by the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, Nourish Hub is delivered by UKHarvest, a leading national food rescue and education charity. Together, we deliver a diverse range of services to support the local community, using food as a catalyst for positive change.
