Job description
Job Role: To run volunteer sessions and deliver community activities at the Wild Cat Wilderness community green space Hours: On site every Friday 10-1.30 plus x1 weekend half day every 4 weeks which will be planned in advance. (Additional work available during school holiday periods plus cover when Project Coordinator away) Each session allows for 30 mins planning/ reporting time and 30 mins either side to allow for set up/ tidy up e.g. for Friday you would be paid for x5 hours in total.
Purpose of the job To run the volunteer session on a Friday morning with the local community. This includes continuing to make the site more attractive, (rubbish clearance), safer (better access and paths) and carrying out conservation work to enhance the biodiversity of the main site and woodland, and food growing in the garden areas around the site,
To help deliver outdoor events and nature based activities for all ages including nature conservation, wildlife habitats, recycling and repurposing materials, organic food growing and healthy cooking. This includes helping to coordinate regular volunteer sessions, family school holiday activities and adult workshops.
This post requires working in a multi-cultural environment and with a strong commitment to equal opportunities. The post holder must have a current DBS (and ideally a current first aid certificate). We will also ask for x2 references from previous/ current roles.

The Wild Cat Wilderness is a community green space and food growing garden, with an outdoor kitchen, orchard, bee hives and dye garden coordinated by the charity Lewisham Local in Catford, Lewisham. Since September 2014, volunteers have transformed a neglected, overgrown, rubbish-strewn space into a thriving community space for volunteering, events and activities, forest schools, social and therapeutic horticulture projects and so much more.
