Job Title: Veg Bag Coordinator

  • Location: Penzance, Cornwall (some flexibility for hybrid working)
  • Hours: 12 hours
  • Salary: £13
  • Contract: 12 months

About Growing Links CIC

Growing Links CIC is a community-rooted, not-for-profit organisation based in West Cornwall. We are committed to creating fairer, greener, more resilient communities by tackling food poverty, promoting sustainable living, and reconnecting people with land and food.

Our veg bag scheme is central to this mission — offering affordable, fresh, locally grown produce to our community while supporting regenerative growers and a fairer food system. We’re looking for a dedicated Veg Bag Coordinator to help grow and shape this vital initiative with heart, care, and commitment.

Role Overview

We are seeking a passionate, organised and community-minded Veg Bag Coordinator to lead on the delivery and development of our weekly veg bag scheme. This is a hands-on, people-focused role for someone who cares deeply about local, seasonal food, regenerative farming and inclusive community access.

From packing and produce sourcing to customer care and digital communications, you'll be at the centre of this project — connecting people to good food and the land it comes from.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Coordination

  • Oversee the weekly veg bag scheme, including ordering produce, managing inventory, and coordinating packing and distribution.
  • Build strong relationships with local, organic and regenerative growers to plan seasonal veg bag contents.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer orders, deliveries, and payments using spreadsheets and planning tools.
  • Work alongside volunteers, staff, and beneficiaries to ensure smooth and supportive operational days.
  • Ensure food hygiene, safety and quality standards are upheld.

Customer Care & Community Engagement

  • Act as the main point of contact for veg bag customers — responding to enquiries, feedback and changes.
  • Foster positive relationships with customers and the wider community to strengthen engagement and loyalty.
  • Support access to veg bags for those on low incomes or experiencing hardship, and work in a trauma-informed, inclusive way with beneficiaries of all backgrounds and abilities.
  • Approach all interactions with kindness, patience, and compassion.

Communications & Promotion

  • Contribute weekly content for our newsletter (e.g. seasonal highlights, recipe ideas, grower stories).
  • Collaborate with the communications team to promote the veg bag scheme through social media, events, and campaigns.
  • Support outreach and events such as tastings, community pop-ups or cooking demos.
  • Help promote the scheme to new audiences and encourage sign-ups through creative, community-rooted marketing.

Person Specification

Essential

  • A deep passion for local food systems, sustainability, and community resilience.
  • Highly organised, practical, and self-motivated with excellent attention to detail.
  • Kind, approachable and able to build positive relationships with a wide range of people.
  • Experience working with volunteers and/or beneficiaries from diverse backgrounds and with varied abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Planner) for planning, admin and reporting.
  • Familiarity with email marketing tools (e.g. Mailchimp) and basic digital systems.

Desirable

  • Experience working in community food projects, food distribution or local food marketing.
  • Knowledge of seasonal, local produce and regenerative agriculture practices.
  • Experience with website platforms such as Wix.
  • Design or visual communication skills (e.g. Canva, photography).
  • Food hygiene certification (or willingness to complete training).
  • UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to lead and grow a vital local food initiative grounded in fairness, sustainability and community.
  • A supportive, collaborative and values-led working environment.
  • Flexible working hours and opportunities for learning and development.
  • Regular access to fresh, local produce — and a chance to truly connect with the land and people behind the food.
