Job description

The Landmatch England working group in partnership with LESS are hiring for an exciting role as part of a project to support a new Landmatch scheme aimed at landowners and landholders looking to share land, and landseekers looking to start up new food and farming businesses.

Working alongside LESS and the central coordinator of Landmatch England you will be:

  • Reviewing and approving registrations from land seekers and land owners from across the North West of England.
  • Communicating and supporting land seekers and landowners throughout the matching process.
  • Signposting to regional support including peer-to-peer networks, training, routes to markets, business advice.
  • Facilitating meetings between potential matches.
  • Being a champion for the Landmatch England service - attending relevant regional events to promote service, or run activities.
  • Gathering and collating information and statistics for evaluation and funding opportunities.
  • Actively working to support people with different lived experiences, identities and backgrounds to access land opportunities.

The worker will join the Landmatch England team that will consist of the central coordinator and also a South West of England coordinator who will both be hybrid working between home and their host organisations.

This postholder will be supported by the central coordinator and board, but will be best suited to someone who can show initiative and work independently.

The employer for this role will be Tamar Grow Local CIC.

About Landmatch England c/o Tamar Grow Local CIC

The Landmatch England working group which has representation from Landworkers’ Alliance, CSA Network, Shared Assets The Institute of Agriculture & Horticulture and Tamar Grow Local CIC have been meeting regularly since August 2023 to research and develop a land matching scheme for England. England does not currently have a centralised land matching service to support land-holders in leasing or releasing land, or to advertise opportunities. For landseekers, it can be difficult to find out about opportunities, or to find signposting for training or business skills which can help prepare them to take on land when the right opportunity arises. Relationship building, trust and local knowledge are absolutely essential in this process and so we are taking a regional hub approach to benefit from local knowledge and support. Look out for our launch in Autumn 2025.
