Job description

Overview of Role:

Here at Oxygen house. We challenge hospitality norms, creating forward thinking data driven food and experiences in a wide variety of operations. We aim to create world leading models of how to run planet positive kitchens; that care for our environment, delivering delicious, nourishing and organic food, to inspire conscious living and sustainable change.

The Line Cook at Oxygen House is responsible for cooking and preparing dishes for Oxygen House and associated venues, as well as serving at multiple locations. This role requires a thorough understanding of kitchen operations, stock management, and food safety. The Line Cook will also contribute to menu planning and development under the guidance of the senior team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cook and prepare dishes as directed by senior team, follow recipes and contribute to their development.
  • Clear focus and passion for sustainability, organic food and planet positive cooking.
  • Plate and serve dishes as directed.
  • Ensure section well organised and stock rotation and management Is in place.
  • Maintain cleanliness and adhere to food safety regulations. A strong understanding of HACCP principals is required.
  • Offer ideas for menu planning and develop dishes within guidelines and in line with business aims.
  • Work under the guidance of the senior team members to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Follow recipes as laid out, ensuring the highest quality product
  • Follow kitchen processes to ensure all recipes are captured and all fit ethos of high-quality planet positive food.
  • Be confident to communicate with customers and management.
  • Understand the basics of nutrition and cooking planet positive food.
  • Understand the importance of data and how to use this to make decisions around menu development and kitchen operations.

Person Specification:

  • Thorough understanding of kitchen operations, organic produce, sustainability and nutritionally balanced menus.
  • Strong cooking skills with ability to turn their hand to cooking most things, fresh ideas and a good eye for detail.
  • Ability to manage stock and ensure ingredients are available for their section.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and food safety practices. Fully qualified and aware of risks, understanding of HACCP documentation and completion of this and daily checklists
  • Creativity in menu writing and planning, with a focus on nutritionally balanced, planet positive, plant focused meals.
  • A team player who supports colleagues and helps oversee more junior colleagues
  • Ability to develop dishes and recipes within guidelines and under senior team guidance.
  • Passion for sustainability, nutrition and a desire to cook ‘planet positive food’
