Job description

Do you love great food, interesting wines, and connecting with people in the community? We’re looking for a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic team member to join our team. This role is a mix of shop support and tasting magic - perfect for someone who has a real passion for food and wants to share it.

You’ll help out on the shop floor with regular shifts every 2nd Saturday (plus plenty of opportunities to pick up cover shifts) and will also take the lead in hosting our tastings, where you’ll showcase some of the most exciting products in our range: think natural wines, small-batch cheeses, fiery hot sauces, and more!

We’d love someone who can do both shop and tasting roles, but if you’re more excited about just one side, that’s fine too - let us know!

About Nourished Communities

Nourished Communities is a growing network of local food shops celebrating seasonal produce, sustainable supply chains, and independent makers. Born out of a farmer’s market in lockdown, we now have four shops and a warehouse across North London and a vibrant customer community.

What You’ll Be Doing

Shop Assistant Duties  

• Welcoming customers and helping them find what they’re looking for
• Keeping the shop looking beautiful, stocked, and well-organised
• Supporting the team with day-to-day shop operations  

Tasting Coordinator Duties  

• Selecting and preparing products for in-store tastings - we would suggest an hour planning with a meeting/call each week
• Setting up a welcoming tasting area (with plenty of samples, of course!)
• Engaging customers, sharing product stories, and sparking conversation
• Rotating tastings between our Walthamstow and Highbury shops

What We’re Looking For

• A people person who enjoys chatting with customers and making them feel at home
• Passionate about food, drink, and trying new things (knowledge of wine/cheese is a bonus, but not essential — enthusiasm is key!)
• Reliable, organised, and happy to work independently as well as in a small team
• Flexible to cover additional shifts if/when needed
