Job description

Role: Community Grower

Salary: £32,671 full-time (37.5 hours per week), plus 5% pension contribution

Hours: We require someone who can work Tuesday to Saturday, and will consider a job share to enable this.

Are you brimming with energy, passionate about plants, and eager to green the inner-city environment from the ground up? If you’re a grower at heart with a flair for community-building, we’ve got an exciting opportunity waiting for you!

As part of our exciting five-year plan, we’re on the hunt for a Community Grower to join our award-winning, community-led Urban Growing team based in the vibrant heart of Islington. This is more than a job—it’s where our plant passion meets people power. Together, we’re pioneering sustainable, closed-loop horticulture in one of the London’s most dynamic urban environments.

Here’s what you’ll be diving into:

  • Be the catalyst in developing and delivering a thriving Community Plant Nursery as a hub of sustainable, hands-on learning.
  • Inspire and empower residents across diverse communities to get growing—whether they’re seasoned gardeners or fresh-faced beginners.
  • Collaborate with brilliant minds, passionate volunteers, and creative partners to turn green dreams into reality, rain or shine, all year long.
  • Connect the dots between our Nursery and three emerging Nature Anchor sites, growing a web of innovation and inclusion.

You’ll thrive in this role if you’ve got:

  • A strong background in plant nursery work and organic growing techniques.
  • A love for community development and inclusive learning.
  • Experience of working with young people, children and their families.
  • The resilience and positivity to work outdoors in all conditions.
  • The flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

We’re proud to cultivate a truly inclusive environment and strongly encourage applications from individuals who are under-represented in the horticulture world, especially those with Black, Asian and Global Majority heritage, and those with disabilities.
