Job description
Sessional Community Gardener
Part-time, up to 8 hours a week, £14.50 - £16 an hour
At Cultivate London, we help communities plant gardens together, spreading green skills, togetherness and wellbeing through our urban communities.
Our Community and Young People team are looking for a friendly and inclusive community gardener to lead our Wednesday volunteer session at the Salopian Garden. We are looking for a passionate gardener who especially enjoys working with people from all walks of life.
Ideally, you will have a Horticulture Level 2 qualification or be a keen amateur gardener/allotment holder. We value previous experience growing edible crops, working with community groups and/or children especially in a garden setting.
You will be responsible for leading the sessions at our kitchen garden, facilitating a positive, friendly group that is welcoming to all and where volunteers feel valued and invested in the garden. The Salopian Garden is laid out with space for growing fruit and veg, greenhouse and polytunnel, fruit trees and flower beds. You will be responsible for developing a planting plan in conjunction with the volunteers to produce fruit and vegetables for them to enjoy at home and share with the wider community.
We’ll offer you a supportive environment and appropriate training to develop your skills. The role is initially offered up to 8 hours, one day a week with the opportunity to grow your role to include more days a week as the charity’s program expands.
The role is part-time for up to 8 hours a week, £14.50 - £16 an hour, depending on experience, on Wednesdays based in our garden in Isleworth, Hounslow.
