Job description

Teign Greens is a not-for-profit CIC providing 95+ weekly organic vegetable bags to local people in the Teign Valley, South Devon using a CSA model. It was established in 2020 to provide a resilient local food system in response to the Covid Pandemic and has grown quickly since. We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join the team for the year between January and December 2026.

Over the course of the year you would be taking part in all elements of running a market garden and CSA scheme including propagation, cultivation, weed and pest management, crop planning as well as harvesting and packing our produce.

Our four acre market garden is organically certified and employs min-till methods to minimise our impact on the earth. Crops are grown on rotation between agroforestry rows of fruit trees and soft fruit bushes, and our margins and hedges are left wild to promote biodiversity. We work alongside On The Hill, a residential land-based learning enterprise that operates across the wider 55-acre Oxen Park Farm where Teign Greens is found. As a result the farm is a busy, sociable place, especially in the summer, with lots of knowledge to be shared around organic & agroecological food production, low impact living and strong community values.

What’s on offer: you would receive accommodation, basic food including a weekly veg bag and monthly expenses reimbursed; all in return for 4 days per week work. Accommodation on the farm will be in your own basic but comfy caravan with woodburner. You’ll have use of the shared showers and compost loos close by, as well as the spacious shared kitchen and dining area featuring a wood-fired pizza oven. You will be living alongside a lovely community of people who live on the farm as well as seasonal volunteers/woofers from both Teign Greens and On The Hill. During the week we all share lunch together and you may choose to share other meals with other trainees and volunteers.

There’s also access to 1 day/week accredited training opportunities in the area that would be a really great addition to your time on the land with us. Check out the Apricot Centre Level 3 Certificate Regenerative Land-based Systems: Agroecological Food Farming.

Application information

Please apply by email to teigngreens@gmail.com outlining any relevant experience and what skills and qualities you think you would bring to Teign Greens on no more than one page of A4. Closing date for applications is FRIDAY 31ST OCTOBER at midday. Interviews will take place on Zoom or in person the following week.
