Job description

Nettle is seeking a friendly and enthusiastic individual to join our team at Farmers Market.

You will be working at our stall selling popular fermented plant-based products.

You will be setting up and packing up 2 stalls each day, which takes 10minutes each time. That involves lifting a couple boxes of 15-20kg each from van to floor, so very short time.

It's not a classic, heavy market set up, it's much more minimalistic.

The environment is relaxed and supportive, perfect for someone who enjoys interacting with customers and is passionate about healthy, sustainable food.

Long term shift booking pattern

At the moment we are mainly looking for someone to do regular shifts in Oval on Saturdays + maybe occasional (roughly once a month) shifts in Herne Hill on Sundays (where the bonus is better).

About December/January time we will be looking for someone that can do the selling and driving more regularly.

Requirements - Essentials

  • Previous experience in sales and excellent customer service skills - you need to engage with clients, weave a friendly conversation with them, not just stand behind the stall waiting for them to come. You need to be wary of our retention rate when speaking to new clients.
  • Ability to create an inviting, positive and safe customer service experience
  • Being a clear and concise communicator
  • Interest in fermentation products and fine foods in general
  • Keeping the stall clean and tidy to the best of your ability at all times.
  • Ability to handle cash and card transactions
  • Comfortable working solo
  • Reliability, you can book shifts 2 weeks in advance and have to commit to it thereafter.
  • Ok with working outside even during winter time.
  • Can lift a 20kg box (just 3 box max per shifts)

Requirements - Desirable

  • Driving licence and willingness to drive is a strong bonus but not essential (different type of shifts)
  • Previous work in the sale of artisan foods
  • Experience working towards and hopefully exceeding sales targets
  • Live an easily commutable distance from our South London retail sites (Camberwell)

Benefits

  • Commission of £4 pounds every £50 made starting when you’re making £400 and above.
  • Wholesome and enjoyable work atmosphere
  • 50% staff discounts.

Application information

INTERESTED? This is a rolling deadline, you can apply whenever, but the sooner is the best. You then need to get training asap any upcoming weekend with Diego for a few hours + some driving next to Sam, the boss.

Be aware that to start working you need to pass the interview and then do a training session which has to happen the weekend prior to your first shift. Training will be 2 hours and will be paid living wage. Training can take place in Brockley market on Saturdays (10-2pm)  or Herne Hill on Sundays anytime between (10-4pm)

Contact Sam to get an interview at +44 7399 896418 by call or text, thanks!
