Job description

WE ARE HIRING FOR OUR SEASONAL PRODUCTION TEAM

Every Christmas, we bring together a large seasonal team of Production Cheesemongers to help us cut, wrap and send cheese from our Bermondsey site to customers across the UK and beyond.

At the heart of Neal’s Yard Dairy’s Christmas preparations, our Bermondsey site comes alive with the work of a skilled and coordinated team, each person playing a vital role in getting exceptional cheese to our customers in perfect condition and on time.

We are looking for reliable, enthusiastic and hard-working people to join the team in December. You will need to be comfortable working to targets and deadlines, enjoy hands-on, physical work, and take pride in accuracy and consistency. If you thrive in a busy environment, enjoy teamwork, and have a good eye for detail, this could be the role for you.

You’ll be cutting, wrapping and boxing cheese for both our online shop and wholesale customers, and helping to keep our production area running smoothly. You don’t need to have worked with cheese before, but you should be comfortable using computers and confident with numbers. Previous experience in production, warehouse, retail or hospitality work would be an advantage.

Details

  • Most fixed-term contracts run from 15th to 31st December 2025, with some roles starting earlier depending on demand.
  • You’ll need full availability from 15th to 23rd December inclusive. These are our busiest days, and we’re unable to accommodate requests for days off during this period.
  • You will attend a Seasonal Production Induction Day on either 15th or 16th of December which will take place at our site in Bermondsey.
  • Though all contracts run through to 31st December, it is unlikely that you would be scheduled beyond 23rd December. You will likely work between 5 and 7 shifts in total).
  • Shifts are typically 9 hours, including a 45-minute unpaid break. You’ll work either the early shift (5am to 2pm) or the late shift (2pm to 11pm).

Benefits

  • An hourly rate of £13.40 per hour (plus holiday pay of approximately £1.60 per hour, paid at the end of the contract)
  • A generous staff discount
  • Full on-the-job training
  • A hot lunch provided every day, along with a steady supply of coffee, tea, fresh bread and cheese

A couple of important things to note before submitting your application

  • The work involves standing for long periods and moving heavy cheeses. The Production environment can be cool, so warm layers are recommended.
  • This role involves handling products made with animal rennet and cheeses that are bound in cloth and lard. If you prefer not to handle pork or animal products, this may not be a suitable role.
  • All applications will require proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
