About Us

Emergent Generation is a diverse network of experienced founders, volunteers and young members (18 - 35) working together to build a sustainable farming and food future that nourishes people and the planet.

Our membership is diverse. We currently have 760 members from across the UK farming and food system

The Role

The Emergent Generation network is growing, and we would love you to grow with us. We are seeking a personable, proactive, and creative assistant to provide the team with communication and event support in 2026.

As our Communication and Events Assistant you would help grow our digital community and reach, creating great content on our Wix website and all social channels, and compiling and disseminating our monthly newsletter and opportunities board. You would also assist with membership enquiries, our WhatsApp channel, and the planning and coordination of our events including farm walks, workshops, and larger gatherings.

We are looking for 2 days a week of support with a flexible working pattern.  You can work remotely although we aim to meet and work together as a team one day each fortnight in Gloucestershire.

Key Requirements

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate that they have:

• A passion for sustainability, food, and farming.
• A knack for storytelling, presenting information in a clear and engaging way.
• Good English writing and oral communication skills.
• Proven experience in creating visual and audio content for social platforms (Instagram, LinkedIN, Tik Tok, etc.)
• Proven experience in creating written content for blogs, newsletters, articles and/or press releases. 
• The ability to use digital tools such as Google Suite (docs, sheets, and slides), Powerpoint, Canva, Mailchimp, Wix websites (no coding required), and basic digital communication tools.
• The ability to assist with the planning, organisation, promotion and delivery of events.
• Good administrative and organisational skills with attention to detail.
• A proactive, collaborative and approachable team working style. 
• The ability to work independently. 
• Flexibility, responding to challenges and opportunities as they arise.

This is part time role (2 days per week - 0.4FTE) initially for one year on a fixed term contract. Ideally, we are looking for someone who can start before January 2026. 

Benefits

• A salery of £25,000 per year pro rata (£10,000 for 2 days per week).
• Plus a £50 month home working/equipment stipend.
• National Insurance and employer pension contributions.
• Holiday pay - bank holidays and 25 days annual leave pro rata.
