Job description

Join Britain’s Oldest Cheesemonger: Paxton & Whitfield has been the country's leading cheesemonger for over 225 years. Today we continue to deliver exceptional artisan cheese, fine food, and cheese experiences with unrivalled passion and expertise across our four UK retail stores.

We are looking for cheese enthusiasts to join our passionate and knowledgeable Jermyn Street team over the festive peiod. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to expand their career within the artisan food and/or cheese world.

Availability is required from 20th-24th of December to be considered for the role. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide warm, informed and friendly customer service, whilst offering expert cheese recommendations
• Cut, wrap, weigh, and label cheese to the highest standard
• Maintain an attractive and well-stocked cheese counter
• Assist with stock rotation and merchandising responsibilities
• Support with occasional in-store tastings and events
• Maintain excellent shop hygiene and presentation standards at all times

What We’re Looking For:

• A genuine interest in cheese and artisan food
• Previous retail or food service experience (preferred but not essential)
• Friendly, enthusiastic, and professional manner
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Willingness to learn and follow food hygiene procedures
• Availability to work weekends and busy seasonal periods
