About Us

We are a small, mixed, regenerative, organic farm less than a mile outside of Stroud. We’re passionate about producing delicious food for local humans and doing it all whilst enjoying what we do and who we’re with. The farm is made up of several ‘producing’ enterprises. We have a market garden, a Pasture for Life beef herd, laying hens and broilers, fruit and nut orchards and an organic nursery. The trading enterprise works collaboratively across all of the producing enterprises and is responsible for getting our products into the hands of our customers.

Role Overview

This is a varied and practical customer facing role for someone who enjoys working with people, handling produce, and keeping operations running smoothly. You will be responsible for running small weekday markets, managing and organising our main Saturday market stall at Stroud Farmers’ Market, assisting with deliveries, and supporting veg-box packing.

You’ll be the face of the farm at markets – friendly, organised, reliable and happy working in all weathers. You’ll also help ensure our produce reaches customers, shops and restaurants in great condition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, run and pack down mid-week markets at various locations across Stroud district.
  • Manage and lead the Saturday market stall at Stroud Farmers’ Market alongside a market support staff member.
  • Ensure the stall looks professional, clean and well-presented.
  • Provide warm, helpful customer service and product knowledge.
  • Handle cash and card payments accurately.
  • Keep track of stock levels and communicate restock needs.
  • Maintain food hygiene and safety standards at all times.
  • Deliver wholesale orders and food box orders.
  • Conduct basic vehicle checks.
  • Assist with packing veg boxes and market orders.
  • Sort and grade produce according to quality standards.
  • Label, pack and organise orders efficiently.
  • Help maintain a clean, organised packing area.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Friendly, confident communicator who enjoys customer interaction.
  • Physically able to lift crates and work outdoors in all weather.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Reliable, punctual and organised.
  • Able to work independently and take initiative.
  • Comfortable with early Saturday mornings.

Desirable

  • Experience in markets, retail, hospitality, food or farming.
  • Knowledge of fruit, veg or organic produce.
  • Interest in regenerative food and local farming.

What We Offer

  • Supportive, down-to-earth and fun team environment.
  • Real living wage
  • Meaningful work within a growing local food business.
  • Training in market operations, produce quality, and food safety.
  • Opportunities to develop skills in sales, logistics, and customer service.
  • 30 day annual leave (FTE)
  • Generous staff discount on farm produce
