Job description

Neal’s Yard Dairy is an independent business that has been maturing, selecting and selling artisan cheeses from Britain and Ireland since 1979. We aim to reinvigorate the British and worldwide artisan cheese industry by challenging the way people expect to buy and sell cheese: selling by flavour and quality above price or marketing. As leaders within our industry, we sell the finest cheeses to our customers within the UK and around the world.

We are currently seeking a Wholesale Account Manager – Restaurants to join our fast-paced, collaborative Wholesale team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with account management experience and a passion for food to work with some of the UK’s most exciting restaurant.

About the role

This is a full-time role based at our offices and maturation rooms in Bermondsey, with the option of some working from home after a settling-in period. The role also involves regular time out in the market, visiting customers both in London and across the UK, so flexibility and a willingness to travel are important.

This role involves managing and developing a range of restaurant customer accounts across the UK. It is collaborative and customer-facing, with a strong emphasis on tasting and talking about cheese. Cheese is tasted daily to stay close to its changing flavours, seasonality and availability, which informs how we advise chefs and front-of-house teams. Supporting customers through training and tailored guidance is a key part of helping them grow their cheese sales, while also contributing to our own targets. The role also includes representing Neal’s Yard Dairy at tastings, events and visits to our Bermondsey maturation rooms, playing a vital part in deepening relationships and identifying opportunities for long-term and sustainable growth.

Though your primary focus will be restaurant accounts, you’ll also deliver trainings to a wide range of customer types. This means developing a strong working knowledge of our retail customers, how their needs differ, and how best to serve them.

We’re looking for someone who blends solid commercial understanding and experience with a real passion for hospitality, and who’s excited to work with restaurant customers to support how our cheese is sold, served, and appreciated.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage high value restaurant and hotel group accounts, building strong relationships to support customer success and growth
  • Develop new business by finding and onboarding new restaurants in London and around the UK through proactive contact and following up on incoming leads
  • Negotiate with purchasing decision makers in the restaurant industry to find commercially successful solutions that work for all parties
  • Communicate effectively and confidently about cheese flavour, seasonality and provenance
  • Deliver inspiring and informative training to chefs and front-of-house teams
  • Welcome and host restaurant clients at our maturation rooms in Bermondsey
  • Collaborate with our broader sales and operations teams to ensure excellent service and fulfilment
  • Contribute to events, tastings, and wider Wholesale projects

About you

  • Experience in account management, ideally in food, drink, or hospitality
  • A proven track record of new business development is advantageous
  • An understanding of how restaurants and professional kitchens operate
  • Clear, confident communicator with a natural ability to host, train and inspire
  • Organised, energetic, curious and commercially minded
  • Passionate about great food and excited to grow your knowledge of artisan cheese
  • Experience with cheese is a plus, but not essential
  • A full, clean driver’s license

Our successful candidate will be offered:

  • A salary from £32,500 to £34,000, dependent on experience
  • Up to a day per week working from home (after a settling in period)
  • 6 weeks holiday increasing to 7 weeks (subject to length of service)
  • A generous staff discount
  • Cycle Scheme
  • A delicious team lunch every day and there is a steady supply of fresh bread and cheese available to all our team

We are happy to discuss reasonable adjustments needed to support you in our recruitment process.
