Job description

We are looking to hire a grower for our field scale vegetable production on our multi-faceted, dynamic farm. 

This role will have responsibility for aspects of producing a large range of organic crops for direct sales and for wholesale on our 80 acre farm. The role will be working in partnership with other growers, contractors and machinery operators on the farm. 

The position will involve working independently on machinery in addition to leading others in various group tasks, supporting contractors and helping in other areas of our farm when required.

We’re looking for someone dependable, self-motivated and detail oriented who enjoys working efficiently and who is excited about scale and growing large volumes of food!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Schedule, prioritise and participate in our field scale production: cultivation, transplanting; weed and pest management; irrigation and harvesting.
  • Monitor and be accountable for the progress of all field work
  • Train and work alongside the team as needed to ensure timely completion of daily tasks
  • Manage record-keeping, 
  • Use mechanised farm equipment; 
  • Adhere to and enforce on farm rules and regulations and Health and Safety

Due to the nature of this work, you will be willing and able to work in all weathers and be flexible to work on a rota including some Saturdays, 6am & 6pm.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience on a commercial farm
  • Ability to safely operate tractors and other farm equipment
  • Ability to lead and work under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Comfortably able to lift 25kg
  • Physical stamina and good dexterity
  • Valid drivers license required to fulfil job duties

Flourish is a 52 acre farm in Cambridgeshire which has been producing vegetables, herbs, flowers, fruit (and as of 2021, heritage grain and sheep) for the past 4 years. Whilst we usually work exclusively with chefs, we now grow supply produce boxes and shops in Cambridge and London.
