Job description
You will work as part of a small Market Garden team under the guidance of the Head Grower.
Your work will include:
• Supporting all stages of organic vegetable production, including propagation, planting, crop care, harvesting and post-harvest handling
• Assisting with record keeping, crop observations and seasonal planning
• Helping to lead and support volunteer sessions, ensuring they are safe, inclusive and enjoyable • Using and maintaining professional market garden tools with care
• Supporting administrative and organisational tasks related to volunteers and communications (e.g. volunteer inductions, newsletters or social media), with scope to take on more responsibility over time
• Working independently at times as confidence and experience increases Working Pattern The working week follows a regular structure, with seasonal variation in tasks and pace:
Monday – Harvest and Market Garden tasks (spring/summer)
Tuesday – Harvest, Market Garden tasks and volunteer sessions
Thursday – Market Garden tasks and volunteer sessions
Some flexibility will be required to cover holiday / sick leave of other team members and during busier periods of the season, with time off in lieu (TOIL) offered in return. We are committed to supporting staff development. You can expect regular check-ins, open communication, and opportunities to shape the role, to ensure it remains engaging and rewarding.
