Job description

At the Vine Road Community Growing Project, we grow fruit and veg for the local community. We use regenerative methods, and work in partnership with charities and local organisations to ensure people of all ages and backgrounds have access to the space. In 2025, we were awarded 'Community Project of the Year' at Richmond Council's Community Heroes Awards.

The project is overseen by a Project Co-ordinator, who is supported by 3 core volunteers. We are currently seeking a 4th core volunteer to join the team. The main responsibility is to assist with leading the Saturday morning open volunteering sessions. You would work alongside the other core volunteers to welcome people to the project, allocate tasks for the session based on a list provided and offer guidance and support as needed. As part of this role, you would also be included in the core volunteers' WhatsApp group, which enables the core volunteers and project co-ordinator to share updates. The main requirements for the role are that you enjoy working with people, and that you feel comfortable supporting people with basic horticultural tasks, such as seed sowing and planting out. We don't expect you to be an expert! If you have some enthusiasm or experience with growing and would like to develop your skills, this could be a good role for you. Please get in touch if you would like to find out more.

The Saturday morning sessions run from 10 - 12 every Saturday. Ideally, we would need you to be able to attend at least 2 per month. There are usually at least 2 core volunteers at each session. Some additional time is required for communicating with the team of core volunteers and the project co-ordinator, which equates to 1 - 2 hours per month.
