Job description

At the Vine Road Community Growing Project, we grow fruit and veg for the local community. We use regenerative methods, and work in partnership with charities and local organisations to ensure people of all ages and backgrounds have access to the space. In 2025, we were awarded 'Community Project of the Year' at Richmond Council's Community Heroes Awards.

We provide volunteering opportunities for Duke of Edinburgh students. We are currently seeking someone to support our Duke of Edinburgh students at our Saturday morning sessions. This role is shared with another volunteer, so usually involves attending the sessions every second Saturday during term-time. You will be given a list of tasks for the students to complete in advance, and your role on the day is to guide them through the tasks, offering support and motivation. It’s a hands-on and rewarding role. Experience of growing and working with young people is not essential, but you will need to feel confident in both these areas. You will need to undertake a DBS check, which Barnes Common will arrange.

Hours: approx 4-5 per month, term-time only. Saturday mornings 10 - 12.
