Job description

This role is 15 hours/week.

This person will have an intuitive understanding of the science and art of ensuring the right item reaches the right place, at the right time, in the right condition, for the right customer, at the right cost. A main ‘hands-on’ role on packing and delivery days.

  • Weekly and lead responsibility for engaging with local Producers, principally to understand incoming products

  • ‘Onboarding’ new local producers

  • Sourcing products not locally produced that adhere to our Good Food Criteria.

  • Ordering, pricing, uploading, packing, stock control of the above.

  • Ordering all consumables: packaging, cleaning supplies, etc/

  • Coordinating recycling and waste disposal

  • Planning and arranging collection and delivery routes

  • Liaising with collection points

  • A working understanding of a range of platforms and IT systems; including OFN, Microsoft, and Google applications.

  • Customer service and communication

  • Ongoing producer support

  • Customer invoices and packing list.

  • Moving and handling of stock

Person Specification

Essential

  • Strong organisational and logistical skills, with excellent attention to detail.

  • Experience in stock control, ordering systems, or supply chain coordination.

  • Ability to manage multiple moving parts calmly and efficiently.

  • Experience of working directly with producers, suppliers, or customers.

  • Experience in food retail, wholesale, hospitality or distribution.

  • Confident IT user, with experience of spreadsheets and digital ordering platforms (e.g. OFN, Microsoft, Google Workspace or similar).

  • Good numeracy skills, including pricing and invoice checking.

  • Strong communication skills and a professional, solution-focused approach to customer service.

  • Ability to undertake physical tasks including moving and handling stock.

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of weekly logistics.

  • Commitment to local food systems and sustainable sourcing.

  • Valid UK driving license

Desirable

  • Knowledge of food safety, traceability or handling procedures.

  • Experience planning delivery routes or coordinating transport logistics.

  • Understanding of ethical sourcing and sustainable procurement.

  • Experience working within a social enterprise or community setting.

  • Access to own vehicle
