Job description

Be Enriched is a South London community charity dedicated to enriching communities through food. We deliver various projects aimed at reducing food waste and social isolation such as community meals and mobile supermarkets.  We bring people together to share a meal and create access to food for communities with our one of kind Food Bus and Food Float. 

Role Overview 

We have a vacancy for a Canteen Leader and seek candidates with a passion for supporting and working in the community who appreciate the joy of food and enjoy cooking. This role is once a week on Wednesdays located at our community meal at the Clapham Cube.  This role would suit someone looking to supplement their current work commitments.

Responsibliites 

  • Delivery of weekly community meal, utilising surplus food. 
  • Develop menu and execute meal preparation with assistance of volunteers and corporate teams.
  • Overseeing volunteers throughout session to ensure they are provided with engaging and welcoming experience.
  • Volunteer briefings, oversee clean up and ensure kitchen and food safety standards are maintained.       
  • Collection of communities contributions to meal. Curation of a safe and welcoming atmosphere for guests. 

What You Bring 

  • Enthusiasm and experience in community outreach, kitchen operations and work in the charitable sector. 
  • Excellent organisational skills. 
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Love of food and cooking. 
  • Compassionate and committed to serving the community. 
  • Proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Food safety certification.
